Bent Doubtful For Wigan – Murphy Up Front?
ByIf it’s a hamstring injury then he could be out for up to 3 weeks. It will be a huge blow for Bent and Sunderland as Kenwyne Jones is serving his final suspension after picking up a three game ban against West Ham.
That would leave us rather thin up front. Frazier Campbell would be a certain starter and then Bruce would have to decide if he wants to partner Campbell up front with Richardson (playing in a deeper attacking role), Healy (who quite frankly isn’t good enough) or sticking with a five man midfield.
When asked about Bent’s injury concerns, Bruce said:
“Darren’s had a scan and we’re waiting for the results,” he confirmed. “If it is his hamstring, we could be looking at about three weeks out.
“We won’t know anything more until the results come back so we will have to keep our fingers crossed.”
Surely Murphy won’t get a look in…will he?!
