Celtic 1-2 Sunderland

I know friendlies don’t exactly mean much but it’s better to win than lose and deep down, although it’s not important it’s always nice to be able to come away from a game with the satisfaction of getting one over the opposition and their supporters.
Overall, the lads played well, Jones looked dangerous and it was nice to see Rchardson add to his pre-season goal tally. Let’s hope he can carry his goal-scoring form on into the new season.
Sunderland started with quite a strong line-up, a similar team to what we fielded at the end of last season (ok…not that strong then…but stronger than a Celtic reserve side). Campbell and Cana the new boys started on the bench and were both given a run-out in the second half. I look forward to seeing the two of them against Bolton on the opening day.
Jones made it 2-0 in the second half, after some good work down the wing from a ’svelte’ looking Andy Reid. Crossing the ball in making it harder for Jones to miss than score. Marc Crosas pulled a consolation goal back for Celtic and they came close to equalising a few minutes from the end with a header but it ended going horribly wide (unlucky).
The Sunderland fans took part in a moving tribute to the late Bobby Robson, joining in with a fantastic minute’s applause.
