Maynor Figueroa Sunderland Target Injured
ByHe was considered a firm target for Bruce and reports suggest he was very close to signing for Sunderland before the transfer window closed.
Apparently Bruce had been tipped to rekindle his interest in January when the transfer window reopens.
“Maynor has a grade two medial ligament problem in his left knee,” Wigan manager Roberto Martinez told the Wigan Evening Post.
“We will assess it further to see how bad he is, but it doesn’t look good.”
Martinez said: “Normally with this sort of injury, you are talking about weeks rather than months – but the signs are not nice.”
He’s a cracking left-back and would be a fantastic signing in January providing he can regain his fitness. Let’s hope he’s not out for too long and that Brucie’s still interested. McCartney has been seriously injury prone since returning to Sunderland from West Ham and more worryingly he’s been…well…not very good!
