Sunderland To Kick Arsenal Up a Height

By Mark

No matter how good (or bad) we play tomorrow no doubt we’ll get the usual dross from the media about Arsenal being bullied on the field and Arsene Wenger’s well rehearsed spiel about how his players need more protection.

The papers are already reporting that Sunderland have the worst disciplinary record in the league with 2 red cards and 24 yellows so far. But if Arsenal expect to come up here to get butchered I think they’ll be in for a surprise.

I may end up eating my words (after all, we’re missing two very influential players in Kenwyne Jones and Lee Cattermole) but the football we’ve been playing lately has been exciting to watch and very much entertaining for the neutral.

If we hit the ground running and play like we have been playing at home this season then we could cause a real upset. Who knows? Wenger may end up falling to his knees…Platoon style, lifting his arms to the heavens, his quiet sobs building up into a fit of hysterical tears after seeing his team taken apart (much like Liverpool).

Wouldn’t that be great to see?

We’re attacking with intent and are going into games with a real purpose these days (our away form has been poor but we completely outplayed Spurs the other week and left with nothing). Arsenal of course are in fantastic form, scoring more goals so far this season than we’ve probably scored in the past 4. Decades.

With Turner out, it looks like the fit again John Mensah may capitalise and Frazier Campbell will once again partner Darren Bent up front.

Arsenal are not without injuries themselves, the most notable of course is Robin Van Persie who apparently is having his ankle repaired using horse placenta. When I read the original headline I thought he was going to have a leg replacement with a Pit Pony’s left peg.

This is what Van Persie may have looked like had he went ahead with a horse leg transplant:
