Super Kenwyne Jones OK To Play Against Fulham

By Mark

Kenwyne Jones was back in action in the reserves last night after missing Sunderland’s previous three games due to suspension. But…he’s now got a dead leg. Nice.

He picked up the injury after winning a penalty in the 12th minute. He failed to shrug it off and was substituted after only 20 minutes. However Bruce seems optimistic that Jones will return to Premier League action against Fulham on Sunday. Brucie commented: “Kenwyne’s got a dead leg and we expect him to be OK for the weekend. To lose him again would be a blow, but hopefully things will be fine – and he has an extra day to recover with the game not being until Sunday.”

Our away form has been a cause for concern and Jonesy’s return should give us that much needed boost we need.

Sunderland went on to win the reserve game against Wigan 3-0. Young Ryan Noble grabbed a hat-trick. He was invited to travel with the first team squad last Saturday after impressing for the academy and the reserves (He’s scored 27 goals already this season across all levels). He could well be vying for a first team call-up in the not too distant future.
